ASSW 2025 Pre-Workshop Sessions

National Soil Health Strategy

The Soil Conservation Council of Canada has embarked on the development of a National Soil Health Strategy (NSHS) to further collaboration, focus and results in enhancing agricultural soil health. We have engaged with many stakeholders and now have a framework for proceeding. But we want to make sure we are on the right track, and what better way than consulting the experts. The workshop will start with an overview of the work we have done, what we have accomplished to date and our plans for the next 18 months. Then on the “work” part of the workshop. Although the NSHS has many components, the workshop will focus on two subject matters on which you are uniquely positioned to offer us advice – soil health measurement and translating research results into action. We are hoping for a lively discussion!

Tips and Pitfalls for Conducting Soil Incubations
Hosted by Eric Bremer.

Soil incubations are a standard method for studying soil processes in the lab but can be compromised by deviations from desired moisture and aeration conditions. Tips and pitfalls to determine and maintain moisture and aeration will be presented by experienced soil researchers.
